Dr. Kiki Sanford
Dr. Kiki Sanford is best known for her work producing and hosting ‘This Week in Science’ (TWIS) and ‘Dr. Kiki’s Science Hour’, but her entire career is dedicated to making science fun and accessible. She is recognized as one of the top science media personalities in the nation, holds a doctorate in Molecular, Cellular and Integrative Physiology with an emphasis in Neurobiology, and a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife, Fisheries, and Conservation Biology from the University of California, Davis, and is a specialist in learning and memory.
Kiki has appeared on programming from H2 (The History Channel’s ‘How 2 Win’ series), Discovery Digital Network (‘DNews’), Inside Edition, Revision3 (‘PopSiren’), OnNetworks (‘Food Science’), The Video Project, The Science Channel (‘Brink’), TWiT.TV, and CBS’s The Doctors. She has also written for Scientific American, TechCrunch, Forbes, Discover, and Boing Boing. Her most recent entrepreneurial adventure, Broader Impacts Productions, aims to help scientists tell their stories to the world. Dr. Kiki has a black belt in Taekwondo, loves robots and fire, and wants to craft a better future for human spawn everywhere.
Our stem cell expert host is a former guest of the Stem Cell Podcast and fan favorite, Dr. Daylon James. Dr. James received his Ph.D. from the Rockefeller University, specializing in Molecular Embryology, then did a post-doc at Weill Cornell Medical College. Currently Dr. James is an Assistant Professor of Stem Cell Biology and Obstetrics and Reproductive Medicine at Weill Cornell, where his work uses human embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells to generate endothelial and hematopoietic cells for regenerative therapy of cardiovascular and blood disease. In addition to being a super smart, knowledgeable and successful stem cell researcher, Dr. James is charming and funny with a unique ability to talk deep science in an approachable, accessible way.
