Dr. Peter Zandstra has various appointments at the University of British Columbia, the University of Toronto and Excellthera Inc., among others. His academic research focuses on investigating the mechanisms that control hematopoietic stem cell fate and seeks to develop technologies for the propagation of stem cells and their derivatives.

His recent publication in Science used a cellular barcoding strategy to show that that skin cells compete during reprogramming, eliminating one another as the population progresses toward the stem cell state.
