Carla Kim

Dr. Carla Kim is a Professor of Genetics at the Boston Children's Hospital and a Principal Investigator at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute. Her lab research focuses on characterizing the biology of stem cells in normal lung and lung cancer. Her recent paper, published in Nature Communications, found that an epigenetic therapy meant to target lung cancer may actually increase the number of cancer stem cells.

Dr. Jim Wells is the Chief Scientific Officer at the Center for Stem Cell and Organoid Medicine (CuSTOM) and the Director of the Pluripotent Stem Cell Facility at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. His research seeks to understand the development of gastrointestinal and endocrine organs, and uses this information to generate organoids from pluripotent stem cells to model diabetes and digestive disease.

Dr. Stephanie Willerth is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Canada Research Chair at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. She heads an interdisciplinary research group that focuses on tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Specifically, her lab uses stem cell-based bioengineering to develop novel tools, including biomaterial scaffolds, to reproducibly engineer neural tissue from pluripotent stem cells.
