Dr. Jürgen Knoblich is the Scientific Director of the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. His lab uses cerebral organoids to investigate how genotypic changes associated with brain-related disease cause phenotypic malformations and misfunctions.

His recent paper in Science presents CRISPR-LICHT — a tool for genetic screening in human cerebral organoids. The technology was used to identify microcephaly genes.
