Dr. Christine Mummery is a Professor of Developmental Biology in the Department of Anatomy & Embryology at Leiden University Medical Center. She pioneered studies on cardiomyocytes from human embryonic stem cells and was among the first to inject them in mouse hearts after myocardial infarction. Her current research involves modelling cardiovascular diseases using stem cells from patients and developing organ-on-chip models of multiple organs for safety pharmacology and potential disease and drug targets. She is the Immediate Past President of the International Society of Stem Cell Research.
