Priye Iworima is a PhD student at the University of British Columbia. Her project involves developing protocols for the conversion of stem cells into insulin-producing beta cells as a potential therapy for Type 1 diabetes, and developing a process for the large scale manufacturing of the cells.

The ultimate goal of her research is to generate a functional cure for diabetes.
